Full immersion in VAAFT & EPSiT surgical procedures. Why?

Dear Friends,
Nineteen years since the first VAAFT procedure, and twelve since the first EPSiT operation. I’m proud of it. These latest updates need to be mastered in order to properly implement them to the field of colorectal surgery, and offer the best possible treatments to our patients. To date, the concept of minimally-invasiveness should be the rule.

Proposing today a surgical technique which can jeopardize the patient’s faecal continence for treating his anal fistula is, at least, questionable. The same is true in the field of the pilonidal disease. In this regard, is still possible today not to consider the patient’s quality of life? Certainly, these new surgical techniques give a clear improvement of the patient’s social life, thanks to the advent of new technologies. We are living the same experience as 40 years ago, when the laparoscopy was raising, and the scepticism was supreme. What distinguishes VAAFT & EPSiT procedures is the direct vision. How do you not take advantage of this essential characteristic?
Today, we really have good options.

Dear Colleagues, Dear Friends, we are waiting for you!
Piercarlo Meinero
